Easy, Homemade Brownie Recipe

Hello everyone, I hope you’re well. If you saw my recent post on How to Stay Sane in Isolation you’ll have heard me mention that I aimed to try out some baking. Let me just be clear, I am by no means what so ever a pro-baker, I’m a complete beginner – but somehow I managed to whip up a delicious batch of gooey brownies, so I thought I’d share how I did it. If I can do it, anyone can – and in light of such strange times, a sweet treat is always something to look forward to. So, keep reading for this easy homemade brownie recipe.

Easy, Homemade Brownie Recipe

Ingredients

200g of chopped butter

300g Dairy Milk chocolate

4 medium eggs

350g caster sugar

100g plain flour

50g dark cocoa powder

Method

Step One

Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4

Line a 24 x 20cm brownie tin with baking parchment

Put the butter, and chocolate in a non-stick saucepan and very gently melt over a low heat, stirring every now and then, until smooth – be careful not to let it burn!

Step Two

Whisk the eggs and sugar together – a normal whisk works perfectly fine if you don’t have an electric one – whisk until the mixture has doubled, looks pale, and leaves a trail.

Once whisked, gently stir in your gooey chocolate mixture – a part I found really satisfying and it smelt heavenly.

Afterwards, sift in your flour and cocoa, then stir.

Step Three

Pour your completed mixture into the lined tin and bake for 40 minutes.

Once cooled, cut into squares. We portioned ours into 12 for sizeable brownies.

I was chuffed at how these brownies turned out, especially since I am a complete beginner when it comes to the world of baking, and in no way a pro. But, if I can make a yummy batch of homemade brownies  – anyone can!

What’s your favourite thing to bake?
