Last month my partner and I had a week of sun and relaxation in Corfu. A much needed break from reality and time to recharge our batteries. Here’s where we stayed what we got up to.
Atlantica Grand Mediterraneo Resort – Ermones
We stayed at the Atlantica hotel in Ermones. A five-star adults-only resort that doesn’t disappoint. Set on a cliffside overlooking the ocean, this hotel offers stunning picturesque views. This was my fourth visit and my partners second, and it was wonderful to see some new changes and improvments to the hotel on our stay this year.

For dining there’s the main restuarant serving buffet-style food breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s the seafront restaurant and bar. As well as the gourmet Italian à la carte restaurant. The food at the buffet restaurant was varied, with a different theme each night – our favourite was seafood night where we enjoyed fresh mussels to start, and a range of fresh fish and seafood options for main.
With an all-inclusive package, you’re also entitled to one evening dining at the beach restaurant The White Pearl. If you dine at the right time, you can enjoy your meal whilst overlooking the sunset and listening to the clam waves of the sea. On this night we had seabass and tuna. The beach bar and restaurant also offers hot food at lunch time, as welll as cold snacks which you can take onto the beach. Whether dining for lunch or dinner, the service from the staff was exceptional and we were well taken care of.

Although at an additional cost, I would highly recommend eating at the hotels Italian restaurant – Vertigo. We chose to do this on our last night – as a special way to end our holiday. I had the scallops to start, followed by the beef for main, and an apple sorbet for dessert. Both the food and service was exceptional – a magical dining experience.

There are several bars throughout the hotel, offering a range of cocktails as well as beer, wine and spirits. My personal favourite was an Espresso Martini before dinner. And a Cosmopolitan after dinner whilst listening to the evening entertainment. One new addition we noticed this year was the additional Sunset bar, overlooking the ocean offering the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail overlooking the sunset.

Corfu Old Town
Although most of our time was spent in the hotel, if you’re visiting Corfu, a trip into the old town is a must. Our hotel offered a bus service running every day of week – offering a coach pick up and drop off direclty from the hotel to the centre of Corfu old town. Bus times ran from morning into the evening – accomodating of whether you wanted to explore the town during the day, or enjoy an evening meal in the town.
We headed into town late afternoon, to enjoy a drink in the afternoon sun by the water, followed by some mooching and shopping. Then having dinner before getting the bus back around 9pm. You will find yourself fully emersed in the narrow streets full of vibrancy, shops and restaurants.

In previous visits to Ermones, other attractions I have enjoyed was visiting the Theotoky vineyard, around a 30 minute walk from the hotel. There is also a honeyfarm a short walk from the hotel.
Our week was a week of sun, relaxation and great food. I would definitely make a return to the Atlantica hotel for visit number five!
